Plus ca change… If there’s one good thing to come from the Covid era, it’s the ability to work seamlessly, remotely. The true power horse behind the Bell Yard engine has recently decided to major on the ‘remote’.  Our much-valued consultant, Sumaya Shiref, is following her heart and trotting off to Australia this weekend for far too many months but, rather than us feeling totally bereft, she’ll actually still soon be bustling away in the early hours to ensure our client service remains unaffected.

When I first travelled down under, my family was lucky to get a postcard of somewhere I’d long departed plus a very rare (and short) phonecall if they were lucky (usually to ask for money!) Tech gets a bad rap, and sometimes deservedly so, but the opportunities it provides to broaden horizons whilst keeping grounded, cannot be overestimated.

So Sumaya, it’s au revoir not adieu. Thank you for everything. We will just have to get used to seeing you sun-kissed on screen in a t-shirt discussing client matters, rather than huddled in a hoodie at an adjacent desk!  Enjoy your adventure, it feels like we’ll be able to (sort of) share it with you real time, living vicariously. Bon voyage!
